An inventory of all records located on estates opened: wills, letters of administration and dismission, guardianship, petitions to the court, orders of the court, notations of inventories, appraisements, sales, annual returns, and settlements of heirs and legatees, dates and names of administrators, executors, guardians are given as well as heirs and legatees when they are specified and/or implied. Exact references given to location of original records and transcriptions of same, and to the microfilmed copies of both at the Georgia Archives. About one-half of these records (the returns) have never been microfilmed. It is among these papers that names of legatees of those who died intestate can be found. All known books, their transcriptions, and loose papers housed at the Georgia Archives were examined and compared to this material.
